Santa Clara Vanguard – Elsa’s Procession – July 3rd, 2017
There’s no words to describe the feeling that everyone felt at the Drums Across The Desert competition tonight (July 3rd) when Santa Clara Vanguard played Phantom Regiment’s – Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral.
To those who might not be aware, a Phantom Regiment Staff/Volunteer Bus was involved in a deadly accident in which the driver of the bus was killed and 8 others transported to local hospitals.
Phantom Regiment withdrew from the Drums Across The Desert to spend time as a corps and worry about what was of the most importance at the time; those who were injured and the family of the bus driver who was killed.
That didn’t stop the Drum Corps Community from stepping up in ways that many couldn’t even imagine.
- Over $2,200 raised on GoFund Me – https://www.gofundme.com/phantom-regiment-food-support-fund
- Volunteers and Alumni of The Academy doing anything that they could to provide support to Phantom, which included driving to Quartzsite to get any luggage that was left behind.
- Other Drum Corps Donating to the Fueled By Phans campaign – http://regiment.org/fueledbyphans/
All of these things just show how much of a Phamily the Drum Corps Community is. Stepping up and being there for one another during the hardest of times. And this is why we are proud to be a Drum Corps International Alumni.
